MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

Dear Gazing Readers,

Have you ever gazed at yourself in the mirror?  Held the gaze for a few minutes and offered healing affirmations to yourself.

Mirror work is consciously choosing to say kind and loving things to yourself while looking into your own eyes.  Louise Hay and Cheryl Richardson are big proponents as well as many others.

I gave it a try.  And you know what?  The inner critic came out full force ready and able to critique everything about my face.  It was difficult to gaze without recognizing my flaws.  But as I offered acceptance to myself, the inner critic was silenced.  And I got deeper.  Deeper into my eyes.  Deeper into my soul.  And I offered myself compassion, forgiveness, playfulness, desire, acceptance, connection.

It was act of my will to speak kindly and gently to myself.

Here are some things I said to myself in the mirror:

I love you.

I accept you.

I forgive you.

You are doing it.

You are amazing.

You are sincere and genuine.

You connect easily with yourself and others.

It gazed at myself the duration of a song.  I chose Lifehouse’s song, “Everything.”  My intuition guided me to select that song.  And what a powerful and profound song for me.   Some of the chosen lyrics are as follows…

Find me here
And speak to me
I want to feel You
I need to hear You
You are the light
That’s leading me to the place
Where I find peace again

You are the strength
That keeps me walking
You are the hope
That keeps me trusting
You are the light to my soul
You are my purpose
You’re everything

And how can I stand here with You
And not be moved by You
Would You tell me how could it be
Any better than this

Cause You’re all I want
You’re all I need
You’re everything, everything
You’re all I want
You’re all I need
You’re everything, everything
You’re all I want
You’re all I need
You’re everything, everything
You’re all I want
You’re all I need
Everything, everything

And how can I stand here with You
And not be moved by You
Would You tell me how could it be
Any better than this

And I WEPT.  Wept over years wasted.  Wept over the inner critic.  Wept over the negative thinking.  Wept.

And I CONNECTED.  Connected with my soul.  Connected with my divine spirit being.  Connected to my inner child.  Connected to my heart.  Connected.

Will you try it?  Pick any song that resonates with you.  Gaze at the mirror and offer yourself the beauty of who you really are.  A spirit in physical form.  Radiant and glorious… always!

Gloriously Gazing,

Jennifer

P.S.

You can do it with yourself or a partner.  Happy Valentine’s Day!
