Dear Creative Genius,
Do you put yourself last? And there is no time for self-care. Do equate self-care as selfish? And feel guilty if you do something for yourself instead for others. Maybe you think you don’t have time or resources for anything extra. Do you practice imperative self-care?
Self-care is love. It is a healthy self-respect as you honor yourself and your self-worth. Self-care is not selfish. By caring for yourself, you go out into the world as a powerhouse.
When you don’t practice self-care, you feel depleted and deflated. You may grow resentful towards the ones you care for. How do I know? I denied myself, and it didn’t work.
Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive. As creative artists, we can be creative. So, let’s be creative and find things that work.
These are some of my go to self-care practices. Baths release tension. Add some magnesium salts, essential oils and gemstones. Nature walks are huge for your body and soul. Recharges your batteries and gets you outside the house. Slow things down. Bodywork, such as massage and chiropractic adjustments, breaks up fascia and release toxins. Power naps clears the mind and rejuvenates you to tackle the rest of the day. Or maybe snuggle with a book and a cup of tea.
I would love to hear from you. Do you practice self-care? If so, what are some self-care practices you use? If you haven’t, can you give yourself some love and implement some things today?
You can nurture the relationship with yourself. It’s never too late. You are on time! Go love yourself one practice at a time!
